Election Day Spanking

The Liberals were dethroned, and the Canucks collapse in St. Louis. Slow sports news day overall. Let's roll...

You Snooze, You LOSE!!!

It's as simple as that folks. If you don't show up to play, you will get your a** spanked, and that is exactly what happened to the Canucks in St. Louis tonight losing 4-0. Let's give the Blues some credit here, they've played 2 solid games coming into this one and they sure as hell didn't want their losing streak to hit double-digits. But the Canucks hit the snooze button and never woke up in time for this one. Maxime Ouellet started in net, and played decently, but the team in front of him was downright awful. Ed Jovanovski did play today and the rust was evident. Not much time to dwell on the loss, the Canucks headed straight to Columbus tonight to face the Blue Jackets tomorrow night.

If there was ever a time for Marc Crawford to rip into his team for their non-existent effort, tonight would be that night. As bad as the game tonight vs the Blues was, I don't think there's reason to panic yet. Certainly there's little time time to do so as the Canucks flew directly to Columbus right after the Blues game. Tomorrow, the Canucks go against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Since Rick Nash's return to the team from injury almost 1 month ago, the Blue Jackets have been pretty decent. Assuming the Canucks can pick up their energy level in time for tomorrow's game, they should be able to blow away the Blue Jackets. Marc Denis has been suspect most of the season, and Rick Nash has been silent in the last 3 games, 2 of which were losses. If the Canucks can keep Nash in check and pick up their intensity, should be an easy 4-1 victory. I expect Marc Crawford to go back to the reliable Alex Auld in net for this one.
