Printers Saga in BC is Over

Big local story is that Casey is gone, so DD is the man next year for the BC Lions. Otherwise a slow news day overall. Let's roll...

Printers Begins NFL Journey

Former BC Lion QB Casey Printers signed a 3 year $1.1 Million dollar deal with the Kansas City Chiefs of the NFL today. Was there any doubt in anyone's mind that Printers would sign with an NFL team as soon as the Jan 10 deadline passed?? Especially after Printers' rant on local sports radio in December where the former MVP Quarterback ripped into the BC Lions organization, calling them "backstabbers" and "kicking a guy when he's down".

I think the move is a good one for Printers. The Chiefs recently signed the Charismatic Herman Edwards as their new Head Coach. Edwards will go into the upcoming season with a fresh mind looking to make changes and put his stamp on this team. If Printers has a good camp, there's no reason why he won't be the 2nd string QB behind Starter Trent Green. Green is 36 this year, Todd Collins and Damon Huard are the current backups and although they both have experience, don't have the youth and athleticism that Printers has. Bottom line, Printers has landed in the best place to take advantage of a great opportunity. If he works his tail off, it's only a matter of time before we see Printers starting on Monday Night Football.

Liar! Liar!

Sticking with the Kansas City Chiefs, following the tear-jerking goodbye from retired Dick Vermeil, the Chiefs went ahead and signed the now former Head Coach of the NY Jets, Herman Edwards. This after Edwards insisted that he was staying with the Jets just 2 weeks ago. Everyone loves Edwards because he always talks out of his a**. Sometimes you have to wonder if he's from another planet. Anyways, here are my all-time favorite Herman Edwards quotes talking out of his a**.

“You do what's best for your team, ... throw passes and get (the quarterback) killed. Are you kidding me? For what? That's ridiculous.”

“Family policy stays in the house. Done,”

Of Course we can't forget, "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME, YOU DON'T PLAY IT JUST TO PLAY IT, YOU PLAY TO WIN."

Moose Honored in NY

Mark Messier was honored at Madison Square Garden today as the the Ranger faithful retired his famous #11 high above the rafters. The name Messier conjures up a lot of bad memories around here locally in Vancouver, but you cannot deny the legacy of Messier as one of the Greatest Hockey Players of all Time. In my mind, what made Messier great was simply that we was so good for so long. There's a lot of great players out there that had 3 good years or even 5 great years. Messier's career lasted 20+ years where he was at the top end for at least 15 of those years. In other NHL news, the lowly Islanders fire yet another coach, this time the sucker is Steve Stirling. Poor sap, never had a chance to begin with.
